Beat the Ants with Table Salt

I don't know about your house, but when warm weather rolls around, so do the ants. Every year, no matter how clean the house is, ants always find their way in. I HATE using pesticides with the kids and after endless battles with ants, I finally found the perfect solution that was right in my kitchen-- table salt.

One day, my friend told me she had heard that table salt would stop the ants. I was very skeptical, but had nothing left to lose because I had tried everything. I began throwing table salt around my house thinking I was making a big mess for nothing. Within a few minutes, I realized the ants were starting to die. I could not believe it! The solution to my weeks of torture from these invaders was so simple to solve.

Of course, this meant I had to run to the store to get more salt. Imagine the look from the store cleark when I walked up with 5 packages of salt, but it worked and I needed more! I began lining the walls and doors with salt. I was amazed because for the first time I was able to see where the ants were entering my home.

Note, the ants do not die immediately. In fact, they actually the salt drew more in, but let it sit for a few minutes and they will begin to die.

Now when I have an ant problem, I cover my floors in salt and then just vacuum it up. It is a much safer to use too when you have small children.

Bonus Tips!!!
Homemade ant traps-- Get a bottle cap and fill it full of honey or syrup. The ants are attracted to it and will become stuck in it.

Ant hills-- Boil water with some salt in it and pour it on the ant hill. It is said to collapse the tunnels and kill the ants.

What clever ideas do you have to fight ants?
