Mommy Monday: Tips for Staying Motivated
It can be a tough cycle to break, but I have found many great way to stay motivated to get things done.
Find a Support System
Maintaining motivation is easier with a strong support system behind you. Support systems can take many forms. Naturally, my husband and kids are very supportive, but I have found that having one person or a group of friends behind me to encourage me through the process helps me stay motivated the best. Whenever I start to become discouraged or lose my motivation, my support system steps in to give me a little kick in the butt.
Create a Visual Creating a visual of goals is a great way to keep motivation. One way that's very effective for me is to write down my goal. Whenever I need a little motivation, I pull out the piece of paper to give myself a little boost. I also like checklists. Nothing is more satisfying than crossing something off my to-do list. Plus, it gives me a visual that I'm one step closer to achieving my goal.
Another visual that's helpful for staying motivated is to have a picture. For example, maybe you are saving money to get your dream car. Get a picture of your dream car and post it somewhere that can be seen easily. Every time you think about spending money that would otherwise go towards the car, look at the picture to regain focus to keep your motivation.
Don't Get in Over Your Head Nothing can be more discouraging than the feeling of getting in over your head. It's important to know exactly what you're getting into when you make a goal. I know it can be very discouraging and it's easy for your motivation to slip away if you find that your goal is going to be much harder than first thought. Set realistic goals.
Staying motivated can be a very difficult thing to do especially when the road to achievement starts to get really tough.
What goals do you have? How do you stay motivated?
