Tips for Healthy Hair
Properly cleaning your hair makes all the difference in the appearance. Shampoos are specially designed to use with warm water. Warm water produces the best result. You never want to wash you hair in hot water because it can dry out your hair causing itching and irritation. You should not use cold water to wash your hair either. Cold water may not properly rinse all the shampoo out of your hair. Hair can easily be damaged from extreme temperatures like hot and cold water. When washing your hair you want your hair to be as wet as possible because it allows the shampoo to properly lather and cleanse.
Hair, especially long hair, can become very brittle. This is why it is very important to properly moisturize your hair to achieve healthy hair. The scalp produces natural oils to moisturize the hair but sometimes this is not enough, especially if your hair is long. Moisturizers get their name because they attract and maintain moisture in the hair. Safflower oil is a great choice for a moisturizer because it contains fatty acids that allow hair to thrive. I also love coconut oil. When moisturizing your hair you want your hair to be damp but not soaking wet. If the hair is too wet the moisturizer can not be properly absorbed.
Going to bed can be very damaging to hair under certain conditions. Cotton pillow cases are not good to sleep on. The hair can get caught in the cotton fibers causing breakage. The cotton pillow cases can irritate the hair cuticles causing it to fall out. Satin pillow cases are best to use because the hair can easily slide across the smooth surface. You should also never sleep with your hair pulled back tight, such as in pony tails. This can cause split ends and breakage.
Changing a few hair care habits can easily leave you with a beautiful head of hair. The habits are simple to practice and the results can be fantastic.
