Veterans Day: Teaching Your Children to Respect Serivce Members

First and foremost, let me say thank to all of the men and women, past and present, who have sacrificed their lives, time with their family, and so much more to protect our country. There are not enough words in the world to express my gratitude, and no one deserves a day of recognition more than our service members. Happy Veterans day!

Now, I think today is a great time to speak with your children about the true meaning of Veterans day. Children need to understand that today is about much more than a day off from school or work. It's a day to thank and remember those who have served our country. It's a day to show our respect and gratitude for those who bravely choose to give their life to our country so we can live the lives we  do.

It's important to take the time to talk to your children about the reason for celebrating Veterans day, as well as everything our military members endure. This includes the sacrifices they make, the challenges they face, and the families they leave behind so we can live in a safer country.

In my opinion, days such as today, including Memorial day, are starting to lose the true meaning as to why we celebrate. It's not just about getting a day off. It's paying tribute to those who protect us. It's our jobs as parents and caregivers to keep the true meaning of these holidays alive by educating our children and future generations. It's up to us to teach children to respect service members and all that they do.

How do you teach your children the importance of Veterans day? Do you teach your children to respect service members?

Happy Veterans day to all who have served!
